If you have an interest in being part of the All Out Africa team this is your opportunity. We have a job opportunity in Tofo, Mozambique as the Lodge Manager for our volunteer house for 6 months, with the potential to extend. Food and accommodation, as well as project related costs, are covered. You will be responsible for your own transport to Tofo on arrival/departure, medical insurance for the duration or your stay, plus incidentals.
There may be long hours involved in the work and you will need to be highly self motivated.
Responsibilities Include:
- Encourage appropriate guests to stay at the Lodge
- Support All Out Africa volunteers at the Lodge
- Market the Lodge (e.g. through developing links with hostels in the region)
- Receive & record bookings
- Answer the phone & receive emails
- Welcome guests
- Look after guests whilst at the lodge
- Create a welcoming atmosphere at the lodge
- Organise a presence at the lodge when empty
- Run the information & booking office & take bookings for commission
- Facilitate & record internet use by guests
- Receive & record payments
- Manage a record keeping system
- Help with weekly food shops within the budget
- Co-ordinate the preparation of 3 meals per day for volunteers
- Oversee the cleaning of the lodge & linen
- Oversee the maintenance of the lodge facilities & equipment
- Oversee security at the lodge
- Develop & enforce appropriate rules at the lodge
- Help with volunteer orientation & discussions
- Help with volunteer placements where necessary
Requirements:
- A friendly and sociable nature
- Experience with the backpacker hostel or hotel industry
- Experience working with international volunteers
- Skill in cooking well and organizing food
- Experience in managing and recording funds
- Computer literate (word, excel, internet) would be beneficial
- An interest in helping needy people and the environment would be beneficial
