re:char seeks an entrepreneurial and motivated designer looking to change the world. We are a startup at the forefront of the biochar revolution. We build and deploy technologies to produce biochar (a carbon-negative soil amendment) from waste.
Our current product is called the Rutuba Kiln. It is a small-scale biochar production system produced from repurposed 55-gallon drums.
We currently have projects in the US and Western Kenya. We seek to hire someone immediately with an eye for product design for the Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP).
The right person will:
- Have a background in industrial or product design or engineering
- A demonstrated interested in designing products for BOP clients
- Ability and desire to work in developing countries
- Strong digital skills across platforms (indesign, maya, photoshop)
What you will do:
- Help us to improve the design of our award-winning Rutuba Biochar Kiln
- Work in the field to identify new opportunities and design new products
- Prototype and test these products using our rapid-prototyping systems (CNC plasma cutter etc).
- Work with management to design communications and marketing materials
