Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Public Information and Communications and unit chief, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
* Film and edit video products of Mission activities in various television formats as required
* Such products and formats may include:
o TV news coverage for international and /or local distribution;
o special features;
o TV magazine and /or documentary programmes;
o dramas;
o public service announcements;
o b-rolls;
o music videos, and
o conference coverage.
* Identify stories and features ideas
* Produce feature stories with campaign messages targeted at specific audiences, including returnees, children and population
* Conduct on-camera interviews both in English and Arabic, and record statements from Mission staff members, the government officials and other stakeholders required for video products;
* Liaise with international and local press organizations
* In the absence of the international video producer, supervise production assistants
* Translate as and when required
* Produce and script in both English and Arabic identified story ideas
* Collaborate with the government bodies to gain permission and access
* Organize field trips for video coverage, work with substantive sections and contingents to generate ideas for broadcast
* Ensure materials are professionally delivered so they can be edited for continuity, logical arrangement and relevance;
* Facilitate the work of camera operators and producers from broadcast organizations who are covering the UN;
* Ensure the aesthetic and technical quality of video and audio materials.
* Bear responsibility for proper maintenance and storage of video equipment;
* Additional responsibilities include labeling and storage of video data; Setting-up backgrounds and lighting for news events, etc;
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Competencies
* Professionalism: Proven technical, creative and specialized skills in audiovisual production; mainly post production, production, post production and duplication. These include: consultation for timeline set, shooting, scripting, editing offline and online and packaging for DVD.
* Must demonstrate ability to apply good judgment and discretion in the context of assignments given; responsible for the accuracy of the sources and content of footage and also for the aesthetic quality of the video products;
* Good understanding of the functions and organization of the work unit, and of the organizational structure and roles of related units; Knowledge of internal policies, process and procedures generally and in particular those related to the communication, production and standard sources.
* Commitment to implementing gender equality by ensuring equal participation and full involvement of women and men in all aspects of the job.
* Judgment and Decision-making: Discretion and sound judgment in dealing with sensitive material; able to prioritize and take decisions

* Communications: Highly developed and effective communication skills. Speak and write clearly and effectively in both English, Arabic;
* Teamwork: Ability to demonstrate good working relations with sensitivity and respect for diversity in a multicultural, multiethnic environment.
Qualifications
* Education:
o Bachelors or Master's Degree in journalism, communications, public relations or a related field. A technical or vocational certificate in broadcast or a related field also desirable.
* Experience:
o At least Four (4) years following completion of higher education of progressively responsible experience in the area of camera operation, sound and lighting, and post production is essential.
o Proven history of ability to independently produce, shoot, and edit video is highly desirable.
o Experience in non-linear post-production with specific knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer and Macintosh-based video editing and graphic software may be a requirement.
Incumbent will be required to work in an environment with limited resources and thus creativity and ingenuity are desirable qualities. Experience in international organizations is desirable.
Language: Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic required.
