The Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC), the legal body of the Catholic Bishops of Uganda has won a five year grant that will enable it to manage and integrate HIV/AIDS care, treatment and prevention (ACT Program) into its HIV/AIDS services in Uganda.
The management of the program will be integrated into the systems and processes of the Uganda Catholic Secretariat (UCS) for the purpose of sustainability and continuity. The Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB – the Health Department) will be the lead department managing this program which primarily aims at ensuring continuation of support to antiretroviral therapy (ART) program in twelve (12) health facilities within the UCMB network. In order to manage the ACT program, the UEC would now like to fill the following job positions that are still vacant.. Other than as specified for each job position, UEC seeks to recruit highly self-motivated candidates that are able to work with the rest of the team at the UCS.
Project officer- Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC)
Reports to: The Executive Secretary HIV/AIDS Focal Point
The purpose of this position is to ensure the provision of comprehensive OVC services in an integrated manner with other routine HCF care and support services. The person is also expected to provide leadership and strategic direction in ensuring that the OVC work of the Church conforms to national policies and procedures.
Key duties:
Support the health care facilities (HCFs) and the dioceses in designing high quality support services for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC).
Ensure that OVC services provided by the HCFs are in line with national policy guidelines and procedures.
Work with the M&E team to develop and implement high quality M&E plans for the 0VC component of the ACT program.
Work with the M&E team to prepare quail progress reports in line with UEC and other partner requirements.

Requirement:
Qualifications:
• Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Public Health, or other relevant field.
Post graduate training in Project Planning ,and Management.
Excellent proposal writing skills.
Experience in HIV/AIDS care will be an added advantage.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Strong interpersonal communications skills,
Computer literate, with working knowledge of ‘ Microsoft Office packages.
Ability to transfer knowledge and build capacities through formal training and ongoing technical assistance.
Self-guided, strong analytical, organization and planning skills.
Willingness to travel in the field spending 30 – 50% of their time in the field.
