CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION TEAM LEADER
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to employ a qualified and experienced Criminal Investigation Team Leader (Proactive Investigation Team). The incumbent will be responsible for the conduct of a team of specialists investigating allegations of serious misconduct and criminality across the ABG estate. Direction and control will be provided from the office of the MIG Investigations Manager.
The position requires the incumbent to work closely internally with the Asset Protection Unit, on site Investigation and Security Managers and externally with the Police, International Review Team and Government Task Force.
The Proactive Investigation Team may be tasked by the Office of the General Counsel with discreet inquiries as the need arises.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Conduct proactive intelligence led criminal and other security related investigations.
• Conduct other investigations as directed by the Mine Investigations Group Manager.
• Conduct investigations as directed by the Office of the General Counsel.
• Conduct covert intelligence gathering operations.
• Provide high quality written assessments and reports.
• Contributes to site and regional training and mentoring of subordinate investigators.
• Committed to abiding by and implementing implementing the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
• Qualified Senior Investigating Officer or equivalent
• Undergraduate degree or tertiary diploma in a investigative related field (desirable)
Experience Requirements:
• A minimum of 15 years practical experience in an investigative role
• Experienced in covert intelligence gathering techniques
• Experienced in managing large scale investigations and management of multi disciplinary inquiry teams
• Formal training and experience in criminal investigation case management
• Extensive experience and demonstrated understanding of forensic science and it’s application in criminal investigations
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Understanding and/or experience in gold mining or extractive mining processes
• Kiswahili language skills would be an advantage
• Surveillance training would be an advantage
• Specialist knowledge in the investigation of fraud, sexual offences and systems audit would be an advantage
