CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO) FOR HORIZON GROUP Ltd
General Description
Working as a member of Horizon Senior Management Team under the leadership of the CEO, Horizon Group Ltd, the COO will be responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of all corporate Departments. The COO shall lead a team; develop policies and procedures for overall management of the company’s departments and Subsidiaries in accordance with Horizon interest and goals.
Reporting Line:
The COO will report directly to the CEO, Horizon Group Ltd
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CEO, The chief operating Officer shall;
- Ensure Formulation of procedures as well as operational and strategic plans for Horizon Group and its subsidiaries
- Supervise, lead and cooperate with Heads of Department in their day-today operations
- Demonstrate high motivation and enthusiasm to ensure dynamic working environment for all operations across the Horizon Group
- Ensure Implementation of Horizon Group Strategies and translate plans into actions to achieve performance goals.
- In collaboration with the CEO, host and prepare briefs for the Board of Directors, shareholders and other business stakeholders as required from time to time.
- Promote courteous environment and efficient operations by introducing new value adding procedures and processes within the Group
- Prepare periodic operations report
Leadership:
- Lead the teams of all Horizon Departments towards the overall goals and mission of the company
Provide leadership to administration across Horizon Group and ensure that the necessary skills are available for the company’s operations and that appropriate staff development opportunities are made available
Develop and implement measures to enable Horizon Group to achieve National best practice Management
Support in constituting project management teams for various projects and following up to ensure they deliver on project requirements
Internal Control:
- Control resources and ensure that the Horizon Assets are being used efficiently and securely
- Develop and implement High standards of internal Control
- Ensure that internal audit recommendations are executed in the overall operations of the company
- Ensure coordinated approach within the Group ‘s internal processes and procedures
Reporting:
- Respond to all operational and other management reporting requirements in accordance with Horizon Policies
- Oversee the preparation of background documents for keeping all Horizon stakeholders up to date in terms of progress achieved.
External Relations:
- Maintain a steady flow of information within Management, the Board of Directors, shareholders and other relevant stakeholders
- Maintain Liaison with Business partners, joint ventures and represent the company in different For a as may be directed by the CEO
- Respond to ad-hoc information requests from external parties, as may be necessary
Compliance:
- The COO shall ensure zero tolerance for any corrupt activities/tendencies and lack of transparency
- Ensure applicability of all relevant laws in all company operations across the Horizon Group
- Keep an up to date record of all Horizon activities and projects
- Guarantee the usage of all company assets at all offices and projects, is in accordance with established policies and in the paramount interest of Horizon Group
- Ensure vital application of the policies and compliance guidelines as laid out by Horizon Group
Quality Assurance:
- Provide leadership in identifying issues which may affect portfolio quality and possible remedies
- Monitor the conduct of due process on all Horizon activities in both at Horizon Group and Horizon Subsidiaries
- Follow up with the operational teams and project teams to ensure adequate action plans are developed and implemented to improve portfolio quality
Institutional Development:
- Coordinate the Formulation and implementation of a staff capacity building plan
- Develop institutional development plan for Horizon Group and subsidiaries.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
The Chief Operating Officer will be required to be knowledgeable in the area of organizational development. Candidates must have a passionate commitment to delivering results and demonstrate leadership and management skills, entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to convert innovative ideas into complete processes. Additionally, candidates must possess the following attributes;

Education: Completion of Masters’ degree from an accredited college or University is required. MBA, Professional Management Qualification or Master degree in a related field will be preferred.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience is preferred including a management/Leadership background
- Demonstrated extensive professional experience at senior level of management is ideal
- Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of business plans and the operational strategies for commercial opportunities
- Demonstrated experience in management and development of corporate organization and staff under his/her supervision
- Proven experience in the management of teams for the achievement of organizational goals
- Demonstrated experience in the management and supervision of staff
