We are looking for a dynamic, self-driven and seasoned individual with very good analytical and leadership skills. S/he must be capable of leading the Accounts team and work as part of the team of Senior Executives of the University under minimum or no supervision.
Purpose of the Job:
This is a Senior Executive position in the University in charge of all University and related College Finances
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare weekly Financial Reports, and other management Reports for the Vice Chancellor
2. Supervision and training of all staff under his / her responsibility.
3. Supervision of all University accounts and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the Finance Board and the Council.
4. Prepare Annual Accounts and have them audited on time before having them approved by the Council through the Finance board
5. Liaise with the VC to prepare the annual Business Plan and attendant Budgets for UCU and the constituent Colleges.
6. Advising the UCU Administration on financial matters
7. Maintain the Fixed Assets Register
8. Reviewing Management Accounts and explaining them to Management and the Finance Board
9. Review and apply Audit Reports recommendations
10. Apply with dexterity the signature mandates to all University Bank Accounts and other financial documents and personally be responsible for their reconciliation.
11. Supervising the Bursar(s) of Constituent Colleges(s).
12. Perform any other official duties as assigned by the supervisor
Job requirement
Qualifications:
1. Must be a committed Christian
2. Should have Academic as well as professional qualifications in the Accounting field with a minimum of a Masters in Business/Accounting and/or ACCA/CPA or higher professional qualifications.
3. Proven experience at a senior level in a similar organization/institution, with a minimum of ten years experience in the same or similar position.
4. Knowledge of Government/other
1. Regulatory Policies and Procedures both Local and International.
5. Should have proven ability to handle Donor issues, requirements and meeting the agreed Standards.
6. Must be proficiency in using personal computer applications, such as Excel, Pastel Accounting and/or similar software with ability to interrogate such systems.
7. Must be between within the 40-50 years age
