Duties & Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Prosecutor and Deputy Prosecutor (Prosecution Division), the Prosecution
Coordinator will perform the following tasks:
Supervise the work of the Prosecution Section and the Appeals Section in the filing of court documents, and in
their work related with preliminary examinations, investigations, pre-trial, trial and appeals;
Provide coordination and direction to the Trial and Appeals Sections to ensure implementation of strategic and
legal decisions by the Prosecutor and the Deputy Prosecutor pertaining to investigations and prosecutions of
crimes within the jurisdiction of the Court;
Develop general positions, standards and guidelines related to the conduct of prosecutions;
Represent the Prosecution Division in court;
At the request of the Prosecutor and/or Deputy Prosecutor, represent the Office in external contacts with
international organizations, visiting judges, government representatives, NGOs, academics, and other external
groups;
Develop and conduct in-house training for all OTP staff on legal/prosecutorial issues;
Present on behalf of the Office, oral and written presentations to external visitors of the Court;
Deputise in the absence of the Deputy Prosecutor;
Perform any other tasks as instructed by the Deputy Prosecutor (Prosecution Division) or the Prosecutor.
Essential Qualifications
a) Advanced degree in law from a recognised university;
b) At least 10 years working experience as a prosecutor or the equivalent, including demonstrated experience in
international criminal law, international humanitarian law and a comprehensive understanding of civil and common
law systems;
c) Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to work with and manage effectively and constructively, trial
teams comprising both senior and junior staff, from a broad variety of disciplinary backgrounds, legal systems
and professions;
d) Excellent knowledge of the substantive and procedural provisions of the Rome Statute, ICC Rules of
Procedure and Evidence, Elements of Crime and the Regulations of the Court;
e) Excellent interpersonal and communication (spoken, written and presentational) skills, including ability to
present difficult issues and positions with clarity; demonstrated intellectual leadership and ability to integrate
knowledge with broader strategic, policy and operational objectives;
f) Outstanding legal drafting and analytical skills;
g) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural
backgrounds with respect for diversity;
h) Professional and personal integrity.
KNOWLEDGE OF LANGUAGES
Fluency in either of the working languages of the Court, English or French, is essential. Working knowledge of
the other would be considered an asset. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic , Chinese,
Russian, Spanish) would be considered an asset.
