Fixed-term (5-year) professorship with special duties in research on oxidative stress in relation to environment and health.
The Department of Public Health undertakes basic research into the causes of illness and the functioning of the health service, as well as more application-oriented research focusing on the prevention of disease. The Department also places considerable emphasis on the methodological and theoretical development within its core disciplines. The research is multidisciplinary and the scientific staff includes researchers trained in medicine, natural science, social science and the humanities.

Job Description and Qualification Requirements
The post entails an obligation to carry out research, supervise younger researchers, evaluate research, provide teaching and publish/communicate scientific findings as well as handle administrative tasks. Furthermore, it involves an obligation to handle research management to the extent appropriate for the tasks and requirements of the Department. The distribution between the different tasks may vary periodically. The appointee will participate in the Faculty’s education programmes including undergraduate teaching for students of Medicine, Human Biology, Environmental Chemistry and Health and Public Health Science and participate in and develop postgraduate training.
In considering applications for the professorship, the emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document original scientific production on an international level within the area of oxidative stress, integrating experimental and molecular methods with epidemiology with special focus on environmental factors and health and experience with international as well as multidisciplinary research collaboration. It is an additional requirement that the applicant has adequate qualifications to provide and manage teaching.

Salary and employment terms
Employment will be subject to the collective agreement made between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary is similar to a bracket 38 professors with a minimum of DKK 644.000 (1 April 2010 level). Additional salary supplements may be negotiated on an individual basis. Pension is 17.1% of the salary.
The position is for a fixed term of 5 years. At the end of the 5-year period of employment, the professor is transferred to employment and remuneration as an Associate Professor. Remuneration and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the wage agreement between the Finance Ministry and AC (The Danish confederation of Professional Associations).
