As an intern with the UNDP Private Sector Division you may be assigned to work with the Inclusive Market Development Team, the Foundations Unit, the Growing Inclusive Markets Initiative, or with the Business Call to Action.
Inclusive Market Development Team:
The Team supports UNDP Country Offices in implementing the private sector strategy through the inclusive market development approach that stimulates market driven solutions to poverty reduction by strengthening market sectors where the poor are economically active and can benefit. This includes the facilitation of value chain integration and “pro-poor” investments that are commercially attractive and address local development needs. Through this approach UNDP engages partners to address capacity and policy constraints that enable the targeted markets or sectors to work better for the poor.
Foundations Unit
: UNDP is increasingly engaging public and private sector partners in a common effort to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by the year 2015. Philanthropic foundations will play an essential role in ensuring that we succeed. UNDP's partnerships with foundations combine resources, knowledge and networks to increase the influence and impact in helping countries find solutions to their development challenges.
Growing Inclusive Markets (GIM):
GIM is a UNDP-led global research and advocacy initiative, which seeks to understand, enable and inspire the development of more inclusive business models
Business Call to Action (BCtA) :
A multi-stakeholder leadership platform that challenges companies to develop inclusive business models that offer the potential for development impact along with commercial success.
