Under the general guidance of the Regional Chief of Programme Planning, responsible for supporting the programme planning function within the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office and providing programme planning support to at least twenty country offices.
Qualification:
Advanced university degree in Social Sciences or other related field.*
Eight years progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in social development, management, monitoring and evaluation.
Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
*A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Key Expected Results:
Provide technical support to the preparation of the RO AWPs and the ROMP, the preparation of Regional Management Team (RMT) meetings, and Deputy Representatives and Operations Officer (DROPs) meetings.
Provide technical assistance and quality assurance to country offices in the preparation of Country Programme Documents (CPDS) and Country Programme Acton Plans.
Supports the preparations of regional training events such PPP, RBM, HRBAP trainings.
Provide technical support for decentralization of the development and implementation of plans for the improvement of the situation of children and women in the region.
Undertakes country office support missions to ensure the quality of programme planning processes.
Provide support to planning to DaO countries and UNDAF roll-out countries where required.
