Post 1: Senior Accountant
The Accountant will be reporting to the Chief Accountant. The Accountant is responsible for grants management, disbursement, accountability and timely/accurate preparation and submission of grants financial reports. He/she will ensure that all staff's salary payments are effectively and timely carried out as well as ensuring that all wage costs are appropriately allocated.
Main Duties
Developing mechanisms for grant disbursement, accountability and reporting in line with donors / funders' requirements
Guiding the project staff and other finance staff in grant management and reporting to enable effective and timely program implementation
Approving all grant disbursements and review all grant accountability
Tracking grant income and expenditure in line with grant budgets and advices projects staff on progress and areas of improvement
Analysing and reviewing grant general ledger transactions and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of grants to the donors / funders
Ensuring accurate Bank Reconciliation of all grant accounts
Overseeing grant accounting and accountability at the JCRC upcountry sites
Reviewing Cooperative Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for each sub-grant and ensuring all agreements are complied with.
Ensuring all the documentation for the specific grant(s) are in order, posting to the ledger are done accurately and in time, ensures that the grant accountabilities and reporting are done in accordance
with the Memorandum of Understanding.
Ensuring that all salary payments are effectively and timely carried out as well as ensuring that all wage costs are appropriately allocated and apportioned to different projects /programmes and ensuring that all statutory obligations and other deductions are done.
Ensuring JCRC payments and stores records are properly documented and that all invoices to partners / clients are produced accurately and on time.
Qualifications & Experience
A degree in Accounting or Business Administration and completed a professional accounting registration by the accounting bodies such as ACCA, CIMA and CPA.
A 5 year progressive and professional accounting experience of which 2 years should have been in Civil Society Fund (CSF) and other donor funded projects, grant and fund accounting, payroll administration, financial reporting, processing payments and invoice management is essential.
Post 2: NAVISION Systems Administrator
The NAVISION Systems Administrator shall be responsible for the overall administration, troubleshooting, development of modules, updating modules and offering user support / training to the users of the JCRC NAVISION database. This shall be conducted in line with the requirements of the various financial requirements and project demands. The systems administrator shall provide technical support to various
database users in various Navision modules, and shall participate in data analysis and reporting needs.
Main Duties:
Troubleshoots the NAVISION for all databases users and projects.
Participates in database needs analysis and reporting according to different projects'/departmental requirements
Provides training and technical support to various NAVISION database users and the various modules within the NAVISION database.
Updates and / or modifies the NAVISION database according to changes in JCRC operations and/or emerging protocols or in light of other process amendments
Works closely with NAVISION programmers to facilitate reporting and any modifications required.
Qualifications & Experience
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with advanced training in programming, systems and database design and administration.
Specific experience with using managing a NAVISION database system is essential.
At least 3 years experience in programming, designing and managing databases in clinical research setting is essential.
Other Terms and conditions: The position will be remunerated in line with the remuneration system at JCRC. The salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
