The SADC Secretariat invites suitably qualified, experienced, innovative, result oriented and self driven individuals who are citizens of Botswana to apply for the position of Assistant Finance Officer under the SADC/ADB Capacity Building for Open and Distance Learning Project tenable at SADC Secretariat Headquarters.
ASSISTANT FINANCE OFFICER (ODL)
A. Purpose and Scope
To prepare payments, monitor, control the Secretariat’s finances and accounts for the Capacity Building for Open and Distance Learning Project.
B. Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, process payments for suppliers for goods and services.
- Drafting reports and claims to donors/ICPs
- Preparation and processing of salaries for project staff
- Maintenance of cashbooks and General Ledger for the Project
- Prepare monthly bank and fund reconciliations to strict dead lines
- Maintenance of fixed assets accounting records
- Attend and service workshops and prepare expenditure reports
- Attend to internal and external audits
- Maintenance of debtors and creditors ledgers including reconciliations
C. Additional Responsibilities
Carry out such others duties as may be determined by supervisor.
E. Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or AAT or equivalent
- Computer literate in accounting software such as Accpac, Sun Systems etc and Microsoft Office suite.
Experience
At least four (4) years post qualification experience in accounting and donor funded Projects.
F. Other relevant skills
Fluency in English and knowledge of Portuguese or French will be an added advantage.
Experience in usage of Accounting software packages (such as Accpac, Sun Systems etc ), MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc and advanced knowledge of spread sheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems.
Job Grade:
All inclusive package 48,000 USD per annum
