The Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking a Lead Evaluator for its office in Washington, D.C. The IEO produces independent evaluations on issues related to the IMF. It operates independently of IMF management and at arm’s length from the Executive Board. Work is ongoing on evaluating the role of the IMF as a trusted advisor, as well as IMF advice on international reserves. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will participate in teams preparing evaluation reports that are part of the IEO’s work program. The selected candidate would be expected to work independently on background work for these reports, as well as supervising the work of external consultants.
Responsibilities will involve working on a variety of evaluation projects, with the objective of learning from experience and supporting the IMF Executive Board in its oversight function.
Qualifications
Candidates are required to hold an advanced university degree in economics or a related field and a minimum of 15 years’ professional experience in the management and/or evaluation of economic policy, or experience in an academic/research environment. Additionally, candidates must possess outstanding analytical and interpretive skills; an established command of macroeconomics or related fields; and knowledge of the IMF’s mandate and operations. Proficiency in English is required, and fluency in other languages is desirable. Strong oral communication skills and excellent drafting skills are required. Knowledge of evaluation methodology is also desirable.
